Root Canal

Root Canal treatment (Endodontics) treats disorders of the nerve (pulp) of the tooth. Previously a tooth with a diseased or infected nerve had to be removed. In 95% of cases today, this is no longer true.

Treatment process includes having the root canal area of your tooth cleaned, enlarged and shaped. The root canal and pulp chamber are then permanently filled and sealed. Finally a filling is placed so that the tooth can look and function like a normal tooth again.

In some cases the tooth will discolour and may become brittle over time. In most cases the dentist will suggest to have the tooth crowned to prevent any further damage and also for aesthetics.

As such you are able to keep your teeth and your beautiful smile.

Dental Implants

Many people take for granted the work our natural teeth perform and don’t realise the tremendous value of having healthy teeth. Dental implants have helped hundreds of thousands of people regain the function and confidence they once took for granted. Whether you’re missing a single tooth or require a complete set of teeth, you owe it to yourself to talk with a member of our dental team about the many benefits dental implants can offer.

Dental Implants can improve biting pressure, comfort, aesthetics and increase self-confidence. Implants have high longevity and reliability.

Dental Implants are a titanium post that is surgically placed into the jawbone and held there permanently. Dental Implants are the closest replacement to real teeth.

Porcelain Veeners

Veneers are an excellent cosmetic remedy for a variety of dental conditions that affect the appearance of teeth. Durable and colour-stable, veneers are, in many cases, the perfect way to restore the natural function and beauty of your teeth, so you can smile with confidence!

Veneers are a thin but strong porcelain “shell” permanently bonded to the tooth’s surface with a strong resin adhesive. Veneers resist stains and maintain their excellent appearance for many years.

Only a small amount of natural tooth structure (if any) is removed during the procedure. Veneers are often less expensive than alternative procedures.

Wisdom Teeth

Wisdom teeth have earned a reputation for making trouble in this day and age. Wisdom teeth grow at the back of your gums and are the last teeth to come through, usually in your late teens or early twenties. Most people have four wisdom teeth, one in each corner.

The tendency for wisdom teeth to become “impacted” (grow sideways or at an angle) or unable to move into their proper position is the cause of most problems. Some partially break through the gum surface, while others remain trapped beneath the gum and bone. Wisdom teeth can also cause crowding and structural damage to other teeth.

Dental Restorations

A dental filling (also called a “dental restoration”) is intended to replace tooth structure lost to decay. Dental fillings may last many years, however, eventually all fillings need to be replaced. Constant assault from eating and drinking or stress from clenching or grinding, eventually may cause a dental filling to fail.

Advances in dental materials and techniques offer new ways to create more pleasing, natural looking smiles. At Thomas Dental we have a variety of filling materials such as composite (white fillings), amalgam (silver fillings), and glass ionomer fillings.

The ultimate decision about what to use is best determined by the patient in consultation with a participating dentist. Before your treatment begins, discuss the options.
