Root Canal treatment (Endodontics) treats disorders of the nerve (pulp) of the tooth. Previously a tooth with a diseased or infected nerve had to be removed. In 95% of cases today, this is no longer true.
Treatment process includes having the root canal area of your tooth cleaned, enlarged and shaped. The root canal and pulp chamber are then permanently filled and sealed. Finally a filling is placed so that the tooth can look and function like a normal tooth again.
In some cases the tooth will discolour and may become brittle over time. In most cases the dentist will suggest to have the tooth crowned to prevent any further damage and also for aesthetics.
As such you are able to keep your teeth and your beautiful smile.
