Dr John Thomas is Thomas Dental's Principal Dentist and Owner. John has been running his own Practice for over 15 years now. Dr Thomas is well known in the local community and we receive referrals daily from new patients requesting to be treated by John. John spends time with his two boys (usually playing some sort of sport) when he is not at the Dental Surgery. John also Coaches kids Soccer and Cricket throughout the year.
Emma grew up on a cane farm in Mackay before relocating to Cairns to pursue her tertiary studies at James Cook University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery with Distinction. She has gained experience working with patients in North Queensland and the Northern Territory before deciding to settle in FNQ.
Emma strives to treat her patients like family, whilst delivering quality dental care with a friendly demeanour that will put you at ease. She enjoys all aspects of general dentistry spanning from preventative dentistry to smile design. Patient care, education and trust is central to all that she does— all of which is completed with pride and attention to detail.
Away from the clinic you'll find Emma running around a soccer field, spending quality time with friends and family and indulging in her favourite treats— rom coms, popcorn and chocolate ice-cream. Lucky she knows some great dentists!
Dr Manzie grew up on the small island of Bribie Island. After following in her dad’s footsteps, she Graduated at Griffith University in 2008, she then relocated to tropical Cairns where she found home. With Carmen’s calming nature she has special interest in helping Dental phobic patients, children and enjoys minor Oral Surgery, all of which is completed with care to keep you at ease. Outside of work Carmen enjoys spending time her husband and chasing after two little boys and two fur babies.
Dr Mischa Dummel was born and raised in tropical Cairns, where he completed degrees at JCU both in Science and Dentistry. Dr Dummel was part of the first pioneering students to undertake and complete dentistry locally in Cairns, graduating in 2013. Mischa has an interest in general dental, hygiene and prevention of dental issues. Mischa is an extremely gentle dentist and will take his time to make sure all your needs are met. Mischa is laid back, easy going and very considerate of patients’ needs and outcomes, especially if you happen to be a little nervous. Outside of dentistry Mischa is family man with a beautiful young daughter. He enjoys cooking, gardening, fitness and relaxing with his two cats.
Dr Dana grew up on a farm in Central Queensland before moving to Yeppoon. Her passion for dentistry started from a young age, as she herself has a rare dental condition called microdontia, meaning all her teeth developed abnormally small and mal shaped. Dr Dana has spent her fair share in dental chairs over the years and if you’ve seen her in the practice, you would know her dentist did an incredible job! As such Dr Dana knows exactly how it feels to be the patient and what is expected chairside and works now extremely hard, in her dream job, to make your visit a comfortable one. Studying at JCU Dana fell in love with Cairns, graduated Bachelor of a Dental Surgery in 2020 and has been with us ever since. Her experiences have piqued her interest in all things personal, aesthetic and functional. Dana's country music can often be heard down the hallway. Her bright bubbly personality coupled with her professional manner make Dana a wonderful addition to the Thomas Dental Team.
Kiah was born and raised on the northern beaches of tropical Cairns, where she is still lucky enough to call home. Kiah started off just as a trainee Dental assistant with us in 2014 at 17 years old, where she has now worked her way to Practice Manager gaining knowledge and experience over her time with us in the practice. Kiah is always at the front desk to greet you and prides herself in making sure patients’ needs are met with the Dentist and all patients leave with a smile!
